TOILET TRAINING.
If your puppy came from us then it has already been started on house training using the Dog Potty Pet Training Grass Mat so please continue taking your puppy into the garden and on to the grass regularly, ideally when they have eaten or just woken, be consistent, take them to the area you would like them to use, praise them maybe give them a little treat, they will soon look upon this as a good experience. Using patience, kindness and treats always helps. Place a puppy pad near the door as an emergency in case they don’t make it outside in time.

GROOMING.
Your puppy is used to been brushed, so always keep on top of coat maintenance by brushing regularly to prevent matting which will become very uncomfortable for the pup. Cockapoos do not moult, but will need to go to the groomers every 6/8 weeks starting around four months old, get the groomer to also cut its toe nails. With the First cut it is advisable to ask for a “Puppy cut”, try to use a groomer recommended to you.
Cockapoos are a floppy eared breed, so check and wipe ears with an ear solution, once a week to prevent ear mites or infections. Use a puppy dental kit to brush teeth daily.

WALKING.
A rule of thumb is five minutes, twice a day per month of age. Example; when the pup is first allowed out that should be ten minutes twice a day. Too much walking exercise initially can cause lasting damage. Your puppy at first will be happy just to play with you and your family or maybe have a run around your own garden, they have already been introduced to a collar and harness so add a little time on a lead with them. Written with wit, wisdom and heartbreaking poignancy, How to Walk a Dog is a story anyone who has ever owned or loved a dog will relate to. You will laugh, you will cry, and you will learn some of the secrets of living with a dog.

HOUSE TRAINING
Many people who attempt to house train their dog fail because they're using old and ineffective house training methods. Failed or long drawn out house training can be avoided by learning the correct way to house train your dog.
The old method of yelling, spanking, or even forcing your dog's nose into it's pee or poop isn't based on modern training methods, punishment is the least effective training method. In fact, it's been proven that in most cases dogs don't even know why they're being punished.
